New Student Orientation

Dear Class of 2027 and New Barlow Students,

We are delighted to welcome all new students to Joel Barlow High School on Monday, August 28, to attend new student orientation.  The goal of this orientation is to familiarize you with Barlow’s eight-day rotating schedule, classroom locations, hallway spaces, and some of our extra-curricular programs prior to the first day of school on Wednesday, August 30.

The orientation will start at 8:30 a.m. on August 28.  The best entrance into the building will be our front performing arts entrance, as we will start in our auditorium.  Should you come in any other entrance, we will have plenty of student volunteers to answer questions and guide you to the correct location.  Following an initial presentation in the auditorium, you will be separated into small groups where you will receive assistance matching your individual schedule to the eight-day rotating schedule and receive a tour of the building.  This will allow you to locate all first semester classrooms on your schedule, while being familiarized with other important locations.  The orientation will end at 11:00 a.m.

Parents and guardians of students in the Class of 2027 and who are new to Barlow this year will be invited to a new parent orientation on September 6.  Additional information about this parent orientation will be sent separately.

Should you be unable to attend on Monday, August 28, please know that there will be multiple opportunities to check-in with your teachers and advisor on the first day of school.  Throughout the first few days our halls will also be filled with friendly people to guide and help you.

We are excited to welcome you to our Barlow family and look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Mario J. Almeida Assistant Superintendent, Head of School

Dameon Kellogg Assistant Principal Classes of 2024 & 2027
