JBHS Community Service Project

Dear SSES Families:

Hayden Goldstein, a former SSES student who is now a junior at Joel Barlow High School, recently reached out to ask permission to run her community service project here at SSES. Along with the teachers, we are delighted to support her in this meaningful effort. Her project beautifully reflects the spirit of kindness, empathy, and generosity that we strive to nurture in all our students. Please take a moment to read Hayden’s message below and consider participating.

Dear Samuel Staples Community,

I am a former SSES student and current JBHS junior. I started an organization about a year ago, collecting gently used stuffed animals that are used as rewards for children receiving mental health counseling at the Children’s Centers of Hamden. I am asking each family to donate as many once-loved, gently used stuffed animals as they can to their child’s classroom on or before Wednesday, December 17th. Hayden will provide trash bags/labels so teachers can record their names and total collection. The class that collects the most animals will win a prize.

With the holidays approaching, this is a wonderful opportunity for young minds to see and involve themselves in giving back.

Thank you,

Hayden Goldstein
