A valuable resource for our students and their parents is our College & Career Center. Located directly adjacent to the Counseling Offices, the College & Career Center offers many important tools to assist students in researching college and career options. Our Career Center Paraeducator, Kimberly Wallace, is available to meet with students during their study halls, to answer any questions they may have and to assist them with their research. Freshmen students will meet in small groups to complete a Career Interest Profiler and Career Cluster Finder during their spring semester. During the fall, Sophomores will come to the Career Center to research careers and complete a StrengthsExplorer Assessment. Junior students will also meet individually or in small groups to discuss their post-secondary plans and to gain individualized instruction on using the Naviance program to facilitate their college search endeavors.
In addition to working with Naviance, students can also make use of the many resources available in the College & Career Center, including the latest editions of various college guides and catalogues such as Peterson's, The Princeton Review and Barron's; college course catalogues; books on many different careers, SAT, ACT, ASVAB and GED review books; and other college resources. Students are also welcome to browse through the latest information regarding summer, gap year and study abroad programs. Our scholarship list is also available for students to review and applications can be given to students who meet the qualifying criteria.
The College & Career Center is equipped with several computers and tables which students are welcome to make use of if they need a quiet place to work.
College visits usually take place in the College & Career Center as well, primarily during the fall semester.
