CELEBRATE AND COMMEMORATE

FIFTY YEARS OF GRADUATING CLASSES

FROM JOEL BARLOW HIGH SCHOOL

SATURDAY, JUNE 11, 2011

Dear fellow falcon,

As a group of us sat at breakfast winding down a wonderful 41st class reunion weekend, it occurred to us that it had been years and years since we had seen many of our upper and lower Barlow classmates.  In many cases, we had shared a significant amount of time with you and truly wondered how your lives were going.  That conversation has led us to the formation of a committee to help us gather each class to celebrate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the first class to graduate from Joel Barlow High School as well as the formation of the Joel Barlow Alumni Fund.  We are inviting all fifty classes to grab a spot on the high school lawn and celebrate this first ever event.  It will be a fabulous day for you and your families as we all celebrate being an alumnus of Barlow and reconnect with old friends.

We are currently forming an Alumni Picnic Committee with the help of Tom McMorran, principal of Joel Barlow, and some of his staff members.  We are hopeful that some of you who are in the area would be interested in joining our committee and sharing your ideas and expertise with us.  Most importantly, we need to contact as many people as possible with the hope that we will have excellent attendance.   We have created an alumnus Google site (http://groups.google.com/group/joel-barlow-high-school-alumni) and we ask that you log into the site, give us your year of graduation, update your contact info and indicate whether you will be able to attend.  We will be sending you more specific information regarding the event in the near future.  In the meantime, it is our hope that at least two members from each of the fifty classes would spearhead contacting their classmates and encouraging them to attend this first ever all-class alumni event.  We also encourage each class to think about extending the event into the evening at some designated location so that you can continue to enjoy the company of your own graduating class.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mary Sunderland Mahony (Class of 1966)mary@reddingpress.com or Sharon Morrissey (Class of 1966) at samorrissey@charter.net.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.

We hope to see you next summer!

With warm regards,

Mary Mahony
