Communications in the Event of an Emergency

As a part of its Emergency Operations Plan, Joel Barlow High School has augmented its communication channels within the school and for the community and regional authorities. The improvements could be important for several different emergency situations - whether they be local or regional incidents such as hurricane, accident or national crisis.

Emergency notices can now be posted in any or all of the following:

  • Our website at http://www.joelbarlowps.org/ will immediately post emergency notices and provide updates. This link will also provide information for other emergency contacts and resources.
  • Joel Barlow subscribes to Expedite, an Internet based touch-tone phone access voice reach system, with the capability of delivering an emergency message to all students' homes for which we have a phone contact number.
  • The Joel Barlow voice mail system will also post and update all messages relating to an emergency. These messages can be accessed by simply calling the school number at 1-888-938-4015 or 938-2508 and pressing five as soon as one hears the greeting.
